You are cordially invited to hear Anne HIlls at
Carolyn's Cottonwood House Concert on Saturday
afternoon, November 18.
I can say, definitively,
that Anne Hills is my favorite female folk/singer/songwriter!
I first
heard Anne at the Kerrville Folk Festival (I'm pretty sure it
was in the
1980's), when Bob Gibson introduced her to Kerrville. I
was immediately
hooked! For the past 30+ years of my being involved in the
folk music
world, Anne remains, in my mind, one of the few all time greats.
As another
one of my folk/songwriter hero's stated:
“Anne Hills is such an
exquisite singer that it’s understandable that people might be
swept up in the
pure beauty of her voice and thereby overlook her writing.
That would be a
mistake. For me, Anne’s writing, in songs like ‘Follow That
Road’ and many
others, is as direct, melodic and deep as any work being done
today. She is
quite simply one of my absolute favorite songwriters.”
— Tom
Paxton
Anne has recorded and toured with many of the folk
singer/songwriter giants, including Tom Paxton, Bob Gibson,
Cindy Mangsen, Steve Gillette and Michael Smith. Her
solo performances take us on an amazing journey to a place
that we may not realized existed ---- sometimes beautiful, and
sometimes tragic, sometimes loving --- but always meaningful.

I hope you will join me
in welcoming Anne for another (much too infrequent) Texas
performance. Please arrive between 2:20 and 2:40
for visiting,
and light snacks. The music begins at 3:00. All
guests are invited
to stay for a song circle after the concert, so bring your
instruments and
voices.
A minimum donation of $18 (cash please) will
be collected at
the door. All money goes to the musician. Space is limited so it
is necessary
that you email CarolynsCottonwoodConcerts@aol.com to
make
reservations. Then, a confirmation and detailed
directions will be emailed to you.
